A 37-year-old man is dead and six others are injured after a six-car crash on Highway 168 near westbound Highway 180 Friday afternoon in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said.
A Chevrolet pickup truck was heading west on Highway 168 passing McKinley Avenue at about 65 mph when it rear-ended a Ford F150, the CHP said. Officers said the F150 was stopped in traffic when the crash happened at 3:42 p.m.
The F150 slammed into a mini van and the Chevy hit other cars, the CHP said.
Seven people were taken to hospitals, including the man who later died. His identity was not released pending notification of kin. Two people sustained major injuries and four people sustained minor to moderate injuries, the CHP said.
The ramp from Highway 168 to westbound Highway 180 was closed until 5:16 p.m., the CHP said.
