A hunter reported missing has been found dead inside a vehicle that went over a cliff, the Tulare County Sheriff's Department said Thursday.
On Tuesday, the Sheriff's Department received a report from family members that bow hunter Nicholas Tyler Kowalski, 32, of San Diego, had not returned home after a hunting trip that began Aug. 21.
Deputies located his camp, but his vehicle was missing.
A CHP helicopter pilot spotted the vehicle 300 feet down a cliff in the area of Sherman Peak, in the Kern River area of the Sequoia National Monument in southeastern Tulare County.
A search-and-rescue team found Kowalski dead from the crash, and retrieved the body.
The CHP is investigating.
