The Marjaree Mason Center has named Genelle Taylor Kumpe as the new executive director, replacing Pam Kallsen, who is retiring after leading the domestic violence shelter for 10 years.
Taylor Kumpe will take over as of Aug. 26. She has been associate director for the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fresno State for the last 10 years. She is also a business owner, founding member of the La Visionaria Guild, and board member of the Lyles Center Alumni and Friends.
Since 1979 the Marjaree Mason Center has worked to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals exposed to family violence, said Mike Rolph, a center board member.
Under Kallsen's leadership, the agency has grown from 45 to 74 staff members, added 64 new beds that allow clients to stay beyond 90 days, added a legal services program, made more than $2.5 million in facility improvements, built a new 4,000 square foot shelter in Clovis and strengthened many community partnerships, Rolph said.
