KFSN (Channel 30.1) laid off 10 employees in finance and sales Wednesday.
None of the on-air news staff at the local ABC affiliate were among those let go.
The local dismissals are part of 175 layoffs planned by the Walt Disney Co. in its Disney/ABC Television Group over the next few weeks. The move includes staff reductions at the network, cable channels (excluding ESPN) and the eight TV stations owned and operated by Disney that includes ABC30.
Walt Disney Co. and KFSN management would not discuss which employees were specifically laid off. And no details were given about how the affected departments will operate with the reduced staff.
Many TV station groups are consolidating jobs and duties. If KFSN opts for such an approach, another ABC affiliate, such as KGO in San Francisco, would pick up the work.
KFSN is the latest local television station to implement layoffs. Cuts at other stations have included support staff and on-air talent.
