Danny Brookshire's phone never goes to voicemail and he always is ready to answer a question. This local plumber discusses how he got in the business and what propels him to please his customers.

Question: What's the nature of your business?

Danny Brookshire:

I am a service and repair plumber and can repair or replace anything in the home that is plumbing related. I also specialize in the repair/replacement of all major brands of waterheaters, including flushing out tankless waterheaters.

What's the history of Flowrite Plumbing? How did it get started?

Danny:

I have been in the plumbing business since the recession of 1982 during which new homes weren't being built. Service and repair plumbers were still working, though, and I discovered I liked doing that. I've been doing service and repair plumbing ever since.

What are your biggest challenges?

Danny:

Trying to educate homeowners to use licensed plumbers, instead of unlicensed handyman types claiming to be plumbers. They may spend less money on an unlicensed plumber but what they won't get is a legitimate, licensed plumbing contractor with experience, equipment and insurance with business ethics.

What are your biggest rewards?

Danny:

Being able to provide a much needed service for people in my community while at the same time being able to make a living in the roughest economies.

What are some of the lessons you've learned?

Danny:

I treat everybody the same way I would like to be treated, which means things like phone calls if I am running late. Communication is everything. I do what I say I am going to do.

What is your philosophy on customer service?

Danny:

Be on time, have fair prices, respect the customer's property and perform my work the best way every time no matter how big or how small the job is. I would like to be their plumber for life, not just once.

What is your fondest memory from your time with Flowrite Plumbing?

Danny:

Some of my best memories are reading the thank you notes that occasionally come along with payments saying they appreciate my work. Sometimes it is nice just to hear a thank you. We can all use that from time to time.
