The Fresno BeeAugust 5, 2013

Thirty students and four teachers from Fresno's Edison High School are among about 250 students across California participating in an intensive, one-week program in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, all focused on solar power.

Ten school districts are involved in the SunPower Solar Science Academy, supported by SunPower Corp. In Fresno, the academy is hosted at Fresno City College.

Two Tulare County school districts are also involved in the 2013 program: Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified and Porterville Unified.

Other participating schools around the state are in the Antioch, Dublin, Mount Diablo, Oakland, Oxnard, San Ramon Valley and Santa Ana districts.
