Gas prices in Fresno have dropped 5 cents over the last month to an average $3.90 per gallon for regular unleaded, according to AAA of Northern California. Gas prices fell throughout Northern California over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Prices in the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville area fell 2 cents to an average $3.92. Nationwide, they fell 15 cents to $3.48.

Statewide, gas prices inched up 2 cents to an average $3.98.

The decline in local prices over the weekend stemmed from the resolution of supply problems, including refineries restarting gasoline production, according to AAA.

Still, prices in Fresno are 21 cents higher than they were a year ago.
