The Bee's Spring All-Stars: Outstanding Baseball Hitter Trenton Kemp

The Fresno BeeJuly 6, 2013

Outstanding Hitter: Trenton Kemp

Grade: Junior

School: Buchanan

Powerful package: Fast and strong, the center fielder exploded onto the scene after missing his sophomore season because of a leg injury. Leading off for the 26-6 Tri-River Athletic Conference champion, he hit .442 with five doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 36 runs, 26 RBIs, seven steals, 22 walks and a .791 slugging percentage. A Fresno State commit, he shared the TRAC Player of the Year award with Clovis North's Jack Labosky.

Like he was never gone: "To see his game really ramp up in such a short time was extraordinary. Opponents had to respect his power and they had to respect his speed; he's a deadly combination. He developed a nice plate discipline in a short amount of time and we also saw maturation in his defensive game; very rarely did someone hit a ball over his head."
