Kerman Unified hires Merced school official as top deputy

Merced Sun-StarJuly 2, 2013

Kerman Unified School District has hired Merced City School District's chief operations officer as its assistant superintendent.

Kraig Magnussen, 47, will earn $122,000 a year as the assistant superintendent and chief business official with the 5,000-student Kerman district. His new boss, Superintendent Robert Frausto, is the former associate superintendent for administrative services of the Merced district.

Frausto said Magnussen is "a pretty sharp guy." When Kerman trustees were observing Frausto in Merced for the Kerman superintendency, they liked Magnussen and wanted to hire him, too, Frausto said.
