Outstanding Runner: Njeri Omawahleh

Grade: Senior

School: Edison

Eye of the Tiger: She had the widest-ranging impact among Central Section girls at the Masters Championships by placing second in the 200 and 400, and contributing legs on the Tigers' winning 400 and 1,600 relays. Her 200 time of 24.31 is No. 8 in section history. And the season-best times of Edison's 400 (46.04) and 1,600 (3:44.19) relays that placed second and fourth in the state are No. 1 in section annals. The Tigers, as a team, placed second in the section and seventh in the state. Next: Fresno State.

No doubt from beginning: "I knew immediately, when I saw her as a freshman, she was going to be a success. She was a young girl with a mature mind. I'll remember her most for her attitude, work ethic, focus and leadership." — Tigers coach Danny Alberty.
