All Bee boys golf: First team, honorable mention, coaching kudos

JUSTIN AVERY

Vitals: Junior, Buchanan

Of note: Had a league second-best scoring average of 72 — including a low round of 67 — while helping the Bears win the TRAC title. Two-time All-Bee pick shot an 82 at the Central Section Individual Championships, tied for the eighth-best score of the tournament.

DALTON HARTMAN

Vitals: Senior, Buchanan

Of note: Tied for second at the Central Section Individual Championships with a 75 while qualifying for the CIF SoCal Regional, where he shot an 81. Two-time All-Bee selection helped Buchanan win the TRAC title with a league scoring average of 75.2.

ANTHONY ORTIZ

Vitals: Senior, Bullard

Of note: Shot a 2-over 74 to tie for the eighth-best score at the CIF SoCal Regional to cap a postseason run that saw Ortiz tie for fourth at the section individual tourney with a 76 and place third at the North Area tourney with a 74. Helped Bullard win the County/Metro Athletic Conference title with a scoring average of 72.5.

RYDER ROCHIN

Vitals: Junior, Woodlake

Of note: Became first golfer in Woodlake history to qualify for the CIF SoCal Regional, where he shot 79 to tie for the day's 13th-best round. Tied for the fourth at the section individual tourney with a 76 and led Tigers to the East Sequoia League title with a nine-hole scoring average of 37.1.

CODY SPRINGER

Vitals: Junior, Clovis North

Of note: Carded the seventh-best score at the section individual tourney with an 80 to qualify for the CIF SoCal Regional, where he shot a 4-over 76. He shot the fourth-best score at the North Area tourney with a 76 to better his TRAC scoring average of 79.4. Is the son of former PGA Tour player Mike Springer.

RUSSELL TAKEUCHI

Vitals: Senior, Clovis West

Of note: Two-time All-Bee selection shot the second-best score of the day at both the North Area tourney (73) and the section individual championships (75) to help Clovis West qualify for the CIF SoCal Regional for the sixth time in nine years. The Fresno State recruit averaged 73.4 in the TRAC.

JAMES TREVINO

Vitals: Junior, Clovis West

Of note: The three-time All-Bee pick tied for the third-best score of the section individual championships with a 76 after winning the same tournament as a sophomore. He shot a 1-over 73 at the CIF SoCal Regional and a 75 at the North Area championships. Averaged 74.4 a round in TRAC play.

JEFFREY YAMAGUCHI

Vitals: Junior, Clovis West

Of note: Shot a team-best 72 at the CIF SoCal Regional. Three-time All-Bee performer shot 79 as the Golden Eagles finished second in Division I at the section team tournament and also shot a 79 at the North Area championships. Averaged a team-leading 72.8 in TRAC play.

Coaching kudos

Tom Deel, Clovis West: Led the Golden Eagles into the CIF Southern California Regional for the sixth time in the event's nine-year history after they placed second in Division I at the Central Section Team Championships.

Kurt Saltzman, Central Valley Christian: Directed his Cavaliers to a runner-up finish in Division II at the Central Section Team Championships. His No. 1 player, Jordan Koelewyn, placed second at the CIF SoCal Regional with a 6-under 66 and qualified for the CIF State Championships.
