Joseph Castro picks 43 for Fresno State transition team

Incoming Fresno State President Joseph Castro has formed a 43-member team of campus and community members to help with his transition into office Aug. 1 and during his first six months.

The Presidential Transition Team will be co-chaired by California State University trustees Peter Mehas and Hugo Morales.

The members are:

-- Pastor Paul Binion of Westside Church of God, Fresno

-- Chancellor Deborah Blue of the State Center Community College District

-- Daniel Boggan of Oakland, the retired chief operating officer of the National Collegiate Athletic Association

-- Sandy Brown, University Advisory Board

-- Bulldog Foundation President Ed Dunkel

-- Honora Chapman, a Fresno State professor of Classics and Humanities and director of theSmittcamp Family Honors College

-- Carol Chandler, the owner of Chandler Farms in Selma

-- Brad Fischer of the Fresno State Alumni Association

-- Katherine Flores, professor and director of Latino Center for Medical Education and Research, UCSF Fresno

-- Sandra Flores, the senior program officer of Fresno Regional Foundation

-- Alvaro Gonzalez, the lead economist at The World Bank in Washington, D.C.

-- Dean Luz Gonzalez of the College of Social Sciences at Fresno State

-- Robert Hand, the director of Resources for Independence of Central Valley

-- Michael Hanson, superintendent of Fresno Unified School District

-- Elazar Harel, the retired chief information officer for University of California, San Francisco

-- Tou Herr, coordinator for Parent Services Center in the Fresno County Office of Education

-- Ryan Jacobsen, the executive director of the Fresno County Farm Bureau

-- C. Judson King, provost emeritus for University of California, Berkeley and University of California system and director of Center for the Studies in Higher Education at UC Berkeley

-- James March, Jack Steele Parker Professor of International Management and emeritus ofStanford University

-- K. Phillip Maroot, attorney for Maroot and Hardcastle in Hanford

-- Sara Martinez, a 2008 Fresno State alumna and Bulldog Pride Scholarship recipient.

-- Cecilia Massetti, the Madera County Superintendent of Schools

-- David Mas Masumoto, owner of Masumoto Family Farm and author

-- Moses Menchaca, the 2013-14 Associated Students president at Fresno State

-- Caren Myers, the CEO of Fresno Lexus

-- Arthur Montejano, the 2012-13 Associated Students president at Fresno State

-- Judge Robert Oliver of Fresno Superior Court

-- Kim Ruiz Beck, chairwoman of Ruiz Foods in Dinuba

-- David Schecter, a professor of political science at Fresno State

-- Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin

-- William Smittcamp, the president and owner of Wawona Frozen Foods in Clovis

-- George Soares, a founding partner of Kahn, Soares and Conway law firm in Hanford

-- Shirley Staton, an accounting services staff member at Fresno State

-- Ray Steele, a retired publisher of The Fresno Bee

-- Daniel Stone, senior vice president at Amentum in Novato

-- Gena Strang-Behrens, sales representative at Ideasplus Promotional Products and Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame member

-- Dr. Khampha Thephavong of Fresno Veterans Administration hospital

-- Leanne Walker Grant, a tribal chairwoman at Table Mountain Rancheria
