A Clovis police officer arrested by Sanger police on suspicion of domestic violence early Wednesday has been on administrative leave since mid-March for an unrelated personnel matter, a Clovis police spokeswoman said Thursday.

Kyle Pennington was taken into custody at his home in the 2100 block of Oak Avenue, Cpl. Jaimy Gaines with the Sanger Police Department said.

Police went to Pennington's home Tuesday morning regarding a domestic violence call. Investigating officers returned hours later with a search warrant, Gaines said.

Officers searched the home, and early Wednesday morning arrested Pennington on suspicion of domestic violence and false imprisonment, Gaines said.

Clovis police will conduct their own administrative investigation into the Sanger incident, department spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee said.

Pennington has been with Clovis police since July 2007.
