Bass Lake Classic Triathlon
Where: Pines Resort
Once upon a time (i.e. the early 1980s), Bass Lake hosted the first triathlon national championships. This resurrected event, now in its third year, helps celebrate that legacy on the same course blazed by multisport pioneers Scott Tinley and Scott Molina.
Both Olympic distance (1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike, 10K run) and sprint distance (500-meter swim, 20K bike, 5K run) races are offered. New this year is a 5K kids run. Go to basslaketri.com for details or register at active.com before 11:59 p.m. today. Fees increase on race day.
