Visalia boy, 3, critical after blow to head; mother, boyfriend arrested

5 p.m.: The mother of a 3-year-old boy in critical condition from a blow to his head was arrested Friday, several hours after her boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of child abuse.

Visalia police said Desie Horton, 29, was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of child endangerment.

Trevor Bishop, 30, was arrested just after midnight Friday on suspicion of child abuse causing great bodily injury.

Police were called to Kaweah Delta Medical Center about 1:40 p.m. Thursday, where the child was brought in for treatment. He was taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

Police launched a violent crimes investigation and said the boy was injured at a home in the 1800 block of South Encina Street.

Bishop voluntarily came to the police department to be interviewed Thursday, police said. He was booked into the Tulare County Main Jail.

No charges have yet been filed.

The incident took place at a home in the 1800 block of South Encina Street, police said.

The boyfriend, 30, came voluntarily to the police department to be interviewed, police said. He was arrested after midnight Friday on suspicion of child abuse causing great bodily injury and booked into the Tulare County Main Jail.
