A kitchen fire caused $10,000 in damages to a southeast Fresno apartment near Clovis and Huntington avenues on Thursday, Fresno fire spokesman Koby Johns said.

The fire -- caused by food left on a hot stove -- was put out by a quick-thinking neighbor who used a fire extinguisher before firefighters arrived, Johns said.

No injuries were reported.
