Police are searching for one of two childhood friends who are responsible for as many as 15 armed robberies in Fresno dating back to August of last year, police said.

Last week, Fresno police arrested 32-year-old Willie Murphy on suspicion of committing eight armed robberies citywide, detective Brandi Phebus said.

Phebus and detectives are still searching for Murphy's friend, 32-year-old Zack Ward, who is believed to be responsible for at least seven more robberies, including a carjacking in the parking lot of a northwest Fresno Walmart in January, she said.

According to Phebus, Ward may have taught Murphy how to commit robberies since both suspects were seen on video surveillance at several locations just before the robberies were committed.

Ward is on parole for home invasion robbery and is considered armed and dangerous, Phebus said.

Anyone with information about Ward's whereabouts is asked to call detective Phebus at (559) 621-2427 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
