Nationwide, the number of fatalities, injuries and trauma resulting from reckless fraternity hazing, rites of initiation and induction is senseless and alarming. It appears that lions, tigers, grizzlies and other predators are not the only ones subject to instinct, dominance and aggression.

In spite of more refined external characteristics, one wonders how many Homo sapiens have actually evolved from a Neanderthal state.

Civilized humans do not orchestrate gatherings sanctioning mindless "booze-nests," kidnapping, punching, blindfolding, humiliation, bullying, rapes, disorientation and abandonment under the pretext of solidarity and "brotherhood." These moral lapses are repugnant on pledge night -- or any other.
