SOFTBALL

-- Britney Schonbachler connected for a three-run home run and added two doubles as No. 6 Golden West opened West Yosemite League play with a 5-3 win over Mt. Whitney.

-- Khloe Ferreria had two hits and two RBIs in the first game and added a two-run home run in the second as Tulare Western swept Fowler in a nonleague doubleheader 5-4 and 9-1.

-- Sydnee Cisneros struck out nine while earning the win, and helped her cause by knocking in two runs as Laton topped Mendota 7-5.

BOYS TENNIS

-- Andrew Gong, one of the Central Section's top singles players, downed Giacoma Catalina 6-1, 6-1 to lead Central Valley Christian over Porterville 6-3.

GIRLS BADMINTON

-- Clovis West improved to 4-0 with a 17-2 win over Fresno that was led by Kathy Her's 11-8, 13-11 win over Yer Yang at No. 1 singles.
