VALLEJO, Calif. -- Vallejo police say a standoff with an armed man ended after officers entered the home and the suspect was found dead.

Officials say the suspect had barricaded himself inside the Vallejo home after police were called by neighbors around 11:36 a.m. Wednesday saying that a man was pointing a rifle or shotgun at people on the street.

Vallejo Police Lt. Lee Horton says after officers later surrounded the home, the man jammed his shotgun through a window and extended it at the officers on the street.

When several officers opened fire at the suspect, the suspect disappeared out of view and back into the residence.

Horton says as SWAT teams were getting ready to send a robot into the home they saw the suspect on the floor.

Officers found a shotgun next to the man, but police did not say if he died from a self-inflicted wound
