Visalia property owners voted to keep a monthly fee and apply it to maintaining the city's storm water drainage system, officials said Wednesday.

The 48-cent fee, already being collected to pay for the city's share of the Lake Kaweah enlargement project, was due to expire.

Vote-by-mail ballots were counted Tuesday and 58% voted yes, the city said. A total of 8,440 votes were cast.

The fee becomes official April 1, when the City Council certifies the results.
