  Many citizens wonder why many "popular" artists haven't made their way to perform at the Save Mart Center, and I have to ask the same question. As I read Michele Contreras' letter, "Wants bigger musical acts" (Feb. 4), I fully agreed with her.

  Many of the acts that come to Fresno are repeated year after year. I find that the performances they hold here don't really appeal to the young adults, but more toward children or older adults.

  Rock, punk, and metal bands hardly ever play at the Save Mart Center and if they do play in Fresno it's at a smaller venue that sells out before many people have a chance to get tickets. I think that the Save Mart Center should accommodate everyone and be open to more diverse music genres and different performers.

  Andrea Gjerde (letter Jan. 24) does not have much common sense when it comes to the news media. These people are buying guns legally because of the frenzy of our government to decimate the Constitution and the Second Amendment and do away with our right to have those guns for protection.

  Those people who buy guns and leave them out for people to use in an argument or children to find should be prosecuted by law for that crime. Responsible gun owners have trigger locks, safes and other means for protecting their guns. Try being afraid of a drunk driver killing innocent people, or drugs that also cause people to kill.

  In Arizona, I have seen women doing their grocery shopping with a holster and gun in plain sight. I think that is a much bigger deterrent for crime than taking all the guns away from everyone but the criminal. He doesn't obey the law anyway. She's so naive.
