An 18-year-old Coarsegold man was arrested Tuesday after brandishing a replica handgun at a school bus stop as he rode past in a car, prompting the lockdown of a campus, the Madera County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

Deputies stopped the vehicle near Spring Valley Elementary School on Road 200 in O'Neals where they arrested the man about 4 p.m., the Sheriff's Department said. The school was on lockdown during the incident.

The man was booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections. His bail was set at $5,000.
