A 17-year-old boy seeking treatment for cuts to his hand was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of burglary at a Hanford home where blood was found near a shattered sliding glass door, police said.

The burglary was reported about 11:35 p.m. in the 900 block of Ross Way.

Suspecting the burglar sustained a serious injury, police contacted hospitals and asked to be notified if someone sought treatment for cuts. A short time later, police received a call about a teenager taken to a hospital by his mother for treatment.

Officers got consent to search the mother's vehicle and found stolen property from the burglarized home, Hanford police said.

The teenager was treated for his wounds and booked in the Kings County jail.
