Fresno police on Tuesday arrested a man -- a 51-year-old with two DUI convictions -- on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after his SUV allegedly rear-ended another vehicle at a stop light, struck a mailbox and hit a fence.
The first crash happened about noon at Cedar and Clinton avenues when a man reported his vehicle was rear-ended as he waited for a red light at the intersection, police said.
As the man whose vehicle was hit tried to exchange information with the driver in a maroon Dodge Durango, the other motorist drove away, police said. A short time later, a man who lives near Griffith Way and Second Street reported a vehicle matching the description of the Durango hit his mailbox. Police then received a report of a SUV striking a fence, where it finally stopped.
No one was injured.
Officers arrested the Fresno man on suspicion of DUI and driving with a suspended license, police said.
