Former Hoover High baseball coaches Jack Hannah and Hal Froese were in the spotlight Tuesday before the Patriots' home game against Sunnyside.

A pregame ceremony was held to dedicate Froese-Hannah Field to the former coaches.

Hannah, a member of the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame and Fresno State Baseball Hall of Fame, won two Valley titles and five North Yosemite League titles at Hoover.

Hannah was the California and Southwestern Region Coach of the Year in 1980. Hannah, who pitched in the minor leagues for five years before ending his career with the Triple-A California Angels, went 314-148 in 16 seasons at Hoover.

Froese, who relinquished his coaching job because of an arthritic condition, went 99-84 in eight years with the Patriots. His best year was 1981 when Hoover placed second in the NYL, reached the semifinals of the Central Section playoffs and finished 19-8 overall.
