Brandon Maurer made his case for a spot in the Seattle rotation with another solid outing as the Mariners downed the San Francisco Giants, 6-3, in spring training.

Maurer struck out four in his five-inning start and only allowed three hits and one run. Kendrys Morales homered and drove in a pair, while Nick Franklin went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored.

San Francisco's Barry Zito was touched for two runs on five hits over five innings, though the left-hander struck out seven. Brandon Belt led the Giants offense with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.
