I wish to address Sasan Rahmatian (letter March 12) regarding his discomfort with The Bee printing letters from writers who choose to use justifiably appropriate characterizations of behaviors, viewpoints, etc., on issues of importance to them.
Hopefully, he will not regress to Orwellian ("1984") newspeak, where the choice of words was cut to a minimum -- making the range of thought and the expression of unorthodox opinions above a low level well nigh impossible.
Regarding his suggestions that those who express themselves thusly consider "anger management," he fails to recognize that when we fail to show authentic feelings and reactions it creates psychological problems and when anyone attempts to take away our experiences and the feelings engendered by them, we are truly diminished. Well-timed expletives are a therapeutic necessity.
The issue, then, is not one of need for "anger management," but, instead, reflects the healthy release of feelings and emotions which are not subject to the need for "management."
