U.S. ice dancers Meryl Davis (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and Charlie White (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) captured their second world ice dancing title at the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships on March 16 in London, Ontario. The five-time national champions compiled 189.56 points to complete a perfect season.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING

Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, Colo.) won the season-long slalom title with a come-from-behind victory at the FIS Alpine World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. With the win, the 18-year-old became the first U.S. slalom world cup champion since 1984.

BASEBALL

Team USA went 1-2 in the second round of the World Baseball Classic, held March 12-15, in Miami. The U.S. topped Puerto Rico, 7-1, on March 12 before dropping consecutive games to the Dominican Republic, 3-1, and Puerto Rico, 4-3.

BIATHLON

Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 15-kilometer mass start on March 17 at the IBU World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. Teammate Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, N.Y.) led the way in the 12.5K pursuit on March 16, finishing 10th.

BOBSLED & SKELETON

Annie O'Shea (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and John Daly (Smithtown, N.Y.) raced to gold at the 2013 U.S. National Skeleton Championships on March 12-13 in Lake Placid, N.Y. Daly bested teammate Matt Antoine (Prairie du Chien, Wis.) by just 0.09 of a second, while Savannah Graybill (Denver, Pa.) finished second in the women's competition for the second consecutive year.

BOWLING

Team Breakpoint Pro Shop 2 of Sartell, Minn., rolled games of 1,128, 1,124 and 1,106 to defeat Towne and Country Lanes 1 of Hartland, Wis., and move into first place at the 2013 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships in Reno, Nev.

CURLING

Team USA notched a 2-2 record through three days of competition at the World Women's Curling Championship, which runs March 16-24, in Riga, Latvia. The U.S. defeated Italy to open play before losing to Germany and Sweden, each by a point. The U.S. bounced back to defeat Denmark, 7-6, on March 18.

After the third draw, teams from Washington and New Jersey remain undefeated at the 2013 Mixed National Curling Championship, held March 16-23, in Willmar, Minn.

DIVING

Olympian Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif.) and younger brother Dwight Dumais (Ventura, Calif.) teamed up to finish fifth in the synchronized 3-meter final of the FINA Diving World Series in Beijing. Troy Dumais also competed in the individual 3-meter event, scoring 424.20 points.

FENCING

Mariel Zagunis (Beaverton, Ore.) battled her way to silver at the saber world cup on March 17 in Antalya, Turkey. Zagunis was joined in the top eight by teammates Dagmara Wozniak (Avenel, N.J.) and Ibtihaj Muhammad (Maplewood, N.J.), who finished fifth and seventh.

Carly Weber-Levine (Old Field, N.Y.) claimed gold in the division II women's saber competition at the March North American Cup on March 15 in Reno, Nev. Weber-Levine was joined on the podium by Rose Adams (Sacramento, Calif.) and Kaleigh Mentzer (Boston, Mass.) In the division II men's foil, Sidarth Kumbla (San Jose, Calif.) was the top U.S. finisher, claiming bronze. Also at the North American Cup, Curtis Lovejoy (College Park, Md.) and Josh Russell (Mendenhall, Miss.) claimed second and third in the wheelchair men's epee.

FIGURE SKATING

In ladies competition, Ashley Wagner (Alexandria, Va.) and Gracie Gold (Chicago, Ill.) finished fifth and sixth at the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in London, Ontario, securing three slots for U.S. women in the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Max Aaron (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was the top U.S. men's finisher in seventh, while the pairs tandem of Alexa Scimeca (Addison, Ill.) and Chris Knierim (San Diego, Calif.) led the U.S. in ninth.
