Two people are dead after a solo-vehicle car accident on Saturday afternoon just east of Hanford, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 27-year-old woman from Armona was driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra west on Highway 198 near 6th Avenue just after 3 p.m. when she drifted left into the dirt median, the CHP said. The woman overcorrected to the right and the vehicle spun off the road. It then traveled down an embankment and overturned, the CHP said.
A 91-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both passengers, died as a result of the crash. Neither has been identified pending notification of family.
A 22-year-old female passenger was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries. The driver was taken to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford with minor injuries.
No other details were available. The crash is under investigation.
