Selma police are investigating a hit-and-run accident Saturday night that sent a 6-year-old boy to the hospital with serious injuries.

Officers were called to Olive and Fig streets around 7:22 p.m. for an accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian. When officers arrived, they found the boy but the vehicle that struck the child fled the scene, police said.

The boy was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call detective Rene Garza (559) 896-2525.
