  A 17-year-old boy died after skateboarding through a stop sign and crashing into a van near Coarsegold on Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.

  The Coarsegold boy, whose name has not been released, was skateboarding down Yosemite Springs Parkway about 10:40 a.m. when he ignored a stop sign and continued through the intersection, colliding with the front end of a van that was traveling about 40 mph, CHP officer Nancy Kramer said.

  Witnesses performed CPR on the boy, but his injuries were fatal, Kramer said. Another 17-year-old boy from Fresno was riding his bicycle behind the victim when the accident happened.
