GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Sarah Eichler scored 16 points and Adrian Ritchie added 15 points as No. 20 Green Bay beat Loyola of Chicago 54-38 Sunday in the Horizon League tournament championship game.
It's Green Bay's third league tournament title in a row and the fifth straight year the team will compete in the NCAA tournament. The Phoenix (29-4), winners of 24 in a row, finished the year a perfect 19-0 against Horizon League teams. They beat Loyola twice during the regular season by an average of 14.5 points.
Green Bay never trailed in the game, but started slowly in both halves. The Phoenix made two of their first nine shots, but hit the next five to break a 4-4 tie and take a 15-6 lead. Eichler and Ritchie made back-to-back 3-pointers to make it 21-8 - giving Ritchie 10 points in the 17-4 run - and eventually Green Bay led 34-17 at halftime.
Ritchie, who broke the Green Bay record for career 3-pointers, was selected tournament MVP. She also had a team-high nine rebounds on Sunday.
The Phoenix made just 2 of 23 shots to start the second half, but Loyola (17-15) could only cut its deficit to 38-27 during Green Bay's 5 1/2-minute shooting drought.
