Fresno Pacific's run of sloppy defense grew in a 4-1 baseball loss at Cal Baptist.

The Sunbirds (11-8, 6-4 PacWest) made three errors after four in Thursday's 10-inning loss to the Lancers (13-7, 6-0).

J.D. Salles allowed four runs (one earned) on eight hits in 72/3 innings. Kaohu Gaspar had two of the six hits off David Herd, who went the distance.

Monsters take Game 1

Kyle Godfrey scored two goals as the Fresno Monsters opened the Western States Hockey League playoffs by defeating the Long Beach Gulls 4-1 at the Gateway Ice Center.

Game 2 of the best-of-three series is 4:45 p.m. today.

Selma induction nears

Lloyd Allen (baseball), Anthony Mosley (football), Gary Quintana (wrestling), Joey Xavier (baseball) and the undefeated 1964-65 Selma High football team will be inducted into the Selma Athletic Hall of Fame on April 4 at the Spike N Rail Steakhouse.
