BASEBALL
-- Khari McGee tripled leading off the bottom of the seventh inning and scored on a wild pitch as Edison snuck past Sanger 3-2 in the County/Metro Athletic Conference opener for both teams. Luis Ortiz fanned 13 batters and went 3 for 4 in the loss.
-- Danny Perez threw a one-hitter and went 3 for 3 with a homer, double and four RBIs as Firebaugh squashed Riverdale 18-0 in nonleague play. A fifth-inning single broke up the perfect game bid.
-- Eric Montero pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Kerman over Washington 7-0 in both teams' North Sequoia League opener. Carlos Salazar hit a two-run homer for the Lions.
SOFTBALL
-- Savannah Sieger threw a no-hitter while racking up 11 strikeouts as Kingsburg topped Immanuel 5-1 in a Central Sierra League opener.
-- Demi Danelle did it all for Central Valley Christian -- pitching a six hitter and hitting a two-run homer -- in a 5-1 CSL win over Dinuba.
-- Dayna Manser hit two two-run homers as Memorial beat Hoover 11-5 in nonleague play. Toni Cardoza went 4 for 4 with two doubles.
-- Freshman Anisah Navarro homered, tripled and doubled as Selma won its CSL opener 9-5 over Exeter.
-- Krytsin Gilmore's eighth-inning double brought home Breeanna Vent with the winning run as Mt. Whitney edged Porterville 6-5 in a nonleague game. Dewey Dale had three hits for Porterville.
BOYS TENNIS
-- Washington finished nonleague play 5-1 -- its lone loss by a point to 2012 section D-V section runner-up Selma -- as David Nguyen won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and with fellow senior Kevin Southsisombath at No. 1 doubles in a 7-2 victory over Roosevelt.
