Hanford church hosts hymn festival

The annual Sing-Along Hymn Festival is at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at First Presbyterian Church of Hanford, 415 N. Redington St.

David Hensley, director of choral activities at Porterville College and choral director at First Congregational Church in Porterville, leads the festival.

Participants include the Pacific Brass at Fresno Pacific University, directed by Wayne Huber, and a combined festival choir.

The event is presented by the San Joaquin Valley chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Some guild members are serving as accompanists on the Moller pipe organ.

There is no admission charge. An offering will be taken to provide scholarships for young organists. Details: (559) 897-7076 or 222-8114.

The Oneness Center has speaker

A talk on "Reclaiming God-Given Healing Gifts" will be presented at the 11 a.m. service March 24 at The Oneness Center, 1752 E. Bullard Ave.

Susan Kay Stephens is the speaker. She also is presenting a seminar -- "Awakening Your Inner Healer" -- at 1:30 p.m. at the center. Cost is $40 with prepaid registration or $45 at the door.

Celtic-themed service offered at church

A Celtic-themed service will be presented at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 17, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 187 N. Broadway. Sunday is St. Patrick's Day.

The music, including Irish hymns and a prelude and a postlude of jigs and airs, will be provided by Pipe on the Hob. The church's pastor, the Rev. Stephen Carlson, will give the sermon.

Right to Life presenting fundraiser

The Right to Life of Central California's annual Walk for Life fundraiser is at 9 a.m. March 23 at the Woodward Park Mountain View Shelter.

The event is a two-mile walk. Participants seek financial donations or pledges that support Right to Life of Central California, which seeks to defend and protect the sanctity of human life.
