Alex Llanos clubbed a two-run single as part of a four-run eighth inning that lifted the Kansas City Royals to a 7-5 decision over the San Diego Padres on Friday in spring training action.

Max Ramirez and Angel Franco each added an RBI during the late rally, while Lorenzo Cain stroked a two-run single in the third to get the Royals on the board.

Kansas City starter Will Smith surrendered five runs -- one earned -- on five hits over four full frames.

Nick Hundley hit a two-run homer and Kyle Blanks added a pair of RBI and a run scored for the Padres, who saw starter Jason Marquis allow three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and three walks over three frames.
