Fresno City College has turned a mediocre start in the Central Valley Conference baseball race into a potential runaway, thanks in no small measure to the every-other-game heroics of freshman right-hander Dominic Topoozian.

Topoozian pitched a seven-hitter Thursday as the Rams beat Sequoias 7-2 for their seventh straight victory -- a run of wins that has Northern California No. 5-ranked Fresno City now 14-6 overall and 9-2 in the conference. Topoozian, the former Buchanan High star, has two victories and a pair of saves during the streak.

Justin Flores was 4 for 4, Jackson Glines and Ryne Dean each had three hits and Jack Karraker drove in two as part of the Rams' 15-hit offensive attack.

Ross Feeley had three hits for Sequoias (9-11, 5-6), ranked 15th in NorCal, which has lost five straight and 6 of 7.

-- Jacob Phillips struck out six and second-place West Hills scored three runs in the fifth to hold on for a 4-3 win at Reedley. The Falcons (9-8, 6-2) -- bouncing back from a 13-1 loss in the series opener Tuesday -- amassed 14 hits, led by Antonio Ibarra's 4-for-5 performance. Mike Hostetler went 2 for 3 for the Tigers (6-11, 3-5).

-- Christian Hamett had an RBI single and scored on an error in a four-run sixth that also saw a run score on an error as Porterville blew open a tight game and beat Taft 12-3. Andrew Lopez went 3 for 5 with two RBIs and three runs for the Pirates (8-10, 4-7). Clint Jorgensen drove in two for the Cougars (4-13-1, 1-7).
