City/County hoops coaches announced

Sunnyside High's Jeff Schmidt and Clovis West's Craig Campbell will coach the City boys and girls teams, respectively, while Selma's Mike Pallesi and Hanford West's Mark Kairis will handle the County teams for this summer's annual City/County All-Star Basketball games.

Tip-off times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. June 19 at Hoover High. Coaches who have nominated players for selection meet next week.

Highlights

BASEBALL

-- Jordan Garcia and Mike Sanchez each homered as Tulare Western beat Hanford 10-2.

SOFTBALL

-- Baylee Jensen stole three bases and scored three runs in the first game, then hit a two-run homer in the second as Central Section No. 2 and CalHiSports.com's state No. 13-ranked El Diamante swept Madera 5-3 and 6-0.

-- Katie Robertson was 4 for 4 with three doubles and two RBIs as No. 3 Clovis West won the first game 11-5, while Claire Stucker went 4 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs during No. 8 Bullard's 10-7 win in the second game.

-- Special Zeno's grand slam highlighted a 10-run fifth inning as Sunnyside beat Mendota 14-0 at the Madera South Tournament.

BOYS TENNIS

-- Billy Griffith won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed with Patrick Huls to win at No. 1 doubles as Clovis West downed Bullard 6-3.
