A French company plans to open an industrial gas liquefaction plant in Tulare County by the end of the year.

Air Liquide will open a 450-ton carbon dioxide liquefaction facility to capture carbon dioxide gases from an ethanol plant owned by Calgren Renewable Fuels. The carbon dioxide will then be purified and liquified for the food, beverage and manufacturing industries.

The Tulare plant joins the company's five other facilities in California and will serve customers in the Central Valley and Los Angeles areas.
