A woman who died in a crash Saturday evening in Clovis was riding in a car that ran a red light and turned into the path of an oncoming Jeep, police said Wednesday.

Patricia Gast, 77, of Sanger was in a 2004 Lexus ES being driven by her husband, Gene Gast, 80, when the crash happened at Herndon and Fowler avenues, police said.

Gene Gast was driving east on Herndon and ran the red light as he turned north onto Fowler, police said. The Lexus was struck by a westbound 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was traveling through a green light.

There was no evidence that alcohol or distracted driving played a role in the crash, police said.
