Champion filly My Miss Aurelia heads a field of seven older females in Saturday's $150,000 Azeri Stakes at Oaklawn Park.
Owned by Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton, My Miss Aurelia will be making her first start of the year in the Grade III 1 1/16-mile race on Oaklawn's main track. The 4-year-old filly will be ridden by Corey Nakatani from the outside post.
Trained by Steve Asmussen, My Miss Aurelia has won six of eight career starts for $2,422,000. She captured the 2011 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies race at Churchill Downs, which secured her that year's Eclipse Award as champion 2- year-old filly.
She won the Mandys Gold Stakes at Saratoga to begin her 3-year-old campaign., then followed with a victory in the Cotillion Stakes over Alabama Stakes winner Questing at Parx Racing.
In the 2012 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic at Santa Anita, My Miss Aurelia finished second, 1 1/2 lengths behind Royal Delta. The filly closed out the year with a third in the La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita.
