Valley prep stars earn high Pac-12 finishes

USC's Cary Wright had a pair of top-eight finishes individually to highlight the performances of former area swimmers at the Pac-12 Championships.

Wright (Clovis West High) was eighth in the 200 butterfly (1:46.94) and 1,650 free (15:23.94). He was 17th in the 400 individual medley (3:51.08), swam a nonplacing 4:26.01 in the 500 free and scratched from the 100 fly in the meet that took place March 3-6 in the Seattle-Tacoma suburb of Federal Way, Wash.

UC Santa Barbara's Chase Lemley (Clovis) helped the Gauchos' 200 free relay team place fifth (1:19.07) and their 400 free relay place sixth (2:56.53), while also placing 17th in the 100 free (44.56), 22nd in the 200 free (1:39.03) and 24th in the 50 free (20.74). His 200 free relay split broke the 20-second mark at 19.95.

Cal Poly's Omar Dwidar (Clovis West) helped the Mustangs' 200 free (1:22.91) and 400 free (3:03.01) relays place eighth, while individually he was 23rd in the 100 breast (58.28), 34th in the 100 free (46.70) and 37th in the 50 free (21.09).
