Fresno Pacific fired women's basketball coach Erin Scholz on Tuesday, capping a three-year run that saw the team go 26-60 and transition this season to the NCAA.

Scholz is an ex-Utah State assistant and All-American while a teammate of current Fresno State coach Raegan Pebley at Colorado.

The Sunbirds went 4-21 this past season, their first in the PacWest Conference and NCAA D-II. The program's last winning season was 2006-07.

Sunbirds pair pull upset, but team falls in Vegas

Fresno Pacific freshman Petra Jurova and senior Marie Boura won 8-4 over NCAA Division II top-ranked Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova, but it was the only point the Sunbirds managed in an 8-1 loss to No. 1 and defending national champion Armstrong Atlantic of Georgia.

Fresno Pacific's No. 28 women's team fell in its second match at the Las Vegas Classic, a day after losing 6-3 to No. 5 Hawaii Pacific.

-- Fresno Pacific's perennial national power men's team -- ranked No. 12 in its first D-II season -- suffered its first-ever 9-0 defeats, losing to No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic and No. 5 Hawaii-Pacific.
