Gas prices fell almost 4 cents in Fresno and the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville area in the last week, part of a slow drop in prices statewide.

AAA of Northern California released its monthly gas price report Tuesday. A series of price spikes in recent weeks means prices are still higher than they were this time last month, but are beginning to drop.

The average price of a gallon of unleaded Tuesday was $4.11 in Fresno and $4.10 in the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville area. Those prices are slightly behind the statewide average of $4.17.

Nationally, prices are at $3.70.

Gas prices are dropping now that refineries have switched to the summer blend of cleaner-burning gasoline and have finished maintenance, according to AAA.
