Sports briefs: Fresno State loses to No. 25 Washington

No. 25 Washington took a 3-0 lead and coasted past Fresno State 4-1 in a nonconference men's tennis match Monday at Wathen Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs' point came from Felipe Fritz, who defeated Emmett Egger 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) for his fourth straight singles win.

Fresno State will return to its home court Wednesday to play No. 66 Purdue at 1 p.m.

West Hills tops COS in baseball

Nick Palacios gave up one run in 7 2/3 innings and Antonio Ibarra went 3 for 3 with two RBIs in addition to earning the save as West Hills College defeated College of the Sequoias 5-2 in the Central Valley Conference.

Hewitt paces Reedley golfers

James Hewitt fired a par 72 to lead Reedley College (383) past West Hills-Lemoore (401) and Fresno City (416) in a Central Valley Conference golf match at Kings River Country Club.
