New arrivals

"Guilt" by Jonathan Kellerman. A chain of horrendous events takes place in rapid succession in the same fashionable L.A. neighborhood, including the discovery of two bodies: an infant buried long ago and a young woman shot in the head. Psychologist Alex Delaware assists LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis to link these unnerving incidents.

"Lincoln's Grave Robbers" by Steve Sheinkin. This is the first book for kids to divulge the virtually unheard of tale detailing the bold endeavor to rob Abraham Lincoln's body from its grave. A true crime thriller!

"The Office of Mercy" by Ariel Djanikian. This exciting debut is a dystopian novel for devotees of "The Hunger Games." Interweaving philosophy and science together into a fascinating, post-apocalyptic tale of love and exploration, the book imagines an all-too-real future.

"The Master" (DVD). An arresting depiction of wanderers and searchers in post-World War II America, "The Master" tells the tale of the excursion of a naval veteran who arrives home from the war uneasy and unclear of his prospects, until he is tempted by The Cause and its magnetic leader.

Community Favorites

"Lincoln" (DVD). Daniel Day Lewis won an unprecedented third Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in this illuminating production that centers on the 16th president's turbulent last months in office.

"The Black Box" by Michael Connelly. Connelly's 18th Harry Bosch novel begins in 1992, a few days after the acquittal of the police officer who assaulted Rodney King, thus provoking the L.A. riots. Connecting the bullet from a current crime to a case from 1992, Bosch hunts for the "black box," the one bit of proof that will solve the case.

"Flight" (DVD). A veteran airline pilot (Academy Award winner Denzel Washington) extraordinarily crash lands his plane after a mid-air collision, saving nearly everyone on board. Following the accident, the pilot is held up as a hero, but he must struggle with this label as he is forced to face the inquiry of an investigation that questions his conduct the night before the ill-fated flight.
