Immanuel High's magical postseason run in girls basketball continued Saturday as the 11th-seeded Eagles upset No. 3 View Park-Los Angeles 45-41 in the Southern California Regional Division V quarterfinals.
Freshman Zoe March scored 19 points, Shandon Ledbetter had 12 and senior center Olivia Sorensen delivered 12 rebounds, eight points and five blocks for Immanuel (22-7), which also upset No. 6 Flintridge Prep-La Cañada 53-46 in the first round.
Immanuel, one week removed from the first Central Section girls basketball title in school history, trailed View Park (21-10) of the Los Angeles City Section 23-17 before March scored six fast-break points to tie it at half, and then again 38-37 before the Eagles closed with an 8-3 run.
"That was the most physical team we've played all season, and our girls did not back down at all," Immanuel coach James Stevens said. "Every one of our girls stepped up; it was unbelievable."
The Eagles' next assignment will be their biggest yet -- a 7 p.m. semifinal Tuesday at second-seeded Sierra Canyon-Chatsworth (21-9), which routed Providence-Burbank 78-30.
