Cyclists bow their heads during a prayer for Sunnyside High School technology teacher Jim Healy before a memorial bicycle ride on Saturday in Fresno.

Healy, 55, was fatally injured early Tuesday during a group bike ride on Auberry Road near Copper Avenue after he swerved and collided with a Jeep Wrangler.

About 250 people gathered for the 4-mile ride, which started at Sunnyside High School.

The event, which included prayers and remembrances for Healy, was followed by a barbecue.

How to help

A memorial fund for Healy's children has been established with the Educational Employees Credit Union. Contributions can be made at any EECU office. The account number is 11858921. Donations for the James Healy Memorial Fund also can be mailed to the EECU at P.O. Box 5242, Fresno, CA 93755.
