Local news briefs: Madden Library plans mobility event

The Friends of the Madden Library will present "Technology and Human Mobility: From Disabled to Enabled," on Friday in Fresno State's Henry Madden Library, the university said.

The program will be on the second floor in the South Wing auditorium, room 2206, and will include a panel to discuss advancements in assistive technology to help the physically challenged.

The reception is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the second floor of the North Wing of the library and reservations are required by Wednesday. To make a reservation, call (559) 278-5790 or email sramierez@csufresno.edu.

McClintock plans April district visit

Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Elk Grove, whose newly redrawn 4th Congressional District covers the foothills as far south as Fresno County, has set town hall meetings in Oakhurst and Mariposa. Each meeting starts at 6 p.m.:

-- April 1, Oakhurst Elementary multi-purpose room, 49495 Road 427, Oakhurst.

-- April 2, Board of Supervisors Chamber, 5100 Bullion St., Mariposa.

River parkway trust gets accreditation

The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust achieved land trust accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission in February, the trust said.

Trusts that are accredited can display a public seal to show that it meets national standards for excellence, will uphold the public trust and ensure that conservation efforts are permanent.
