Gardner-Webb to open McCray era with 12-game schedule

Gardner-Webb will play half of its 12 games at home in football coach Carroll McCray's first season this year, the Big South Conference university announced Thursday.

The season will kick off at home against Furman on Aug. 31.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will host Richmond (Sept. 14), Point (Sept, 28) and Warner (Nov. 2) in other non-conference action. They also will play Big South home games against Liberty (Oct. 26, Homecoming) and Charleston Southern (Nov. 16).

Gardner-Webb had a 3-8 record last season.
